Nike Air Presto - part of the Nike Alpha Project

The Nike Air Presto was created with the following objectives in mind: improving traditional sneaker ergonomics and pushing boundaries in terms of technology. The Presto was part of the Nike Alpha Project, a secret Nike initiative in the late 1990's that gave birth to state-of-the-art products, integrating science as a fundamental designing force. All products created under the Alpha Project overarching theme, one for each of the 5 main Nike product categories, would then be showcasing the 5 Alpha dots insignia. Within Nike's Running category, the Alpha Project gave birth to the Nike Air Presto, those 5 emblematic dots taking form atop the Presto midsole.

 

Nike Presto origins and features

The original Nike Air Presto was first released in 2000 and was an instant hit within the sneaker community. After years of building a solid reputation as one of the most comfortable sneakers ever created, the Nike Presto is now established as a staple amongst Nike's running collection.
